Once a beautiful park, great for picnics and free play, the dogs off leash in posted “no dog areas” are killing the grass and people’s fun. It used to be a traditional historically significant people park with dogs allowed but now it’s a “dog park” for some careless and selfish dog owners instead of for all. It stinks of dog poop on hot days. I have three dogs myself but this park is out of control since the pandemic with poorly behaved dogs. One even attacked my kid as we were spinning her around. The park’s governance sucks up taxpayer dollars “restoring” grass areas repeatedly that are ruined by the dogs. It makes no sense. I miss my neighborhood park… There are so many actual dog parks in this city, made just for dogs. Maybe close off an area and make it just for pups so people can enjoy the open areas again? Plant Illinois natives, please, it saves water, money and supports our local biodiversity. Try some swamp milkweed for monarchs!
Great for dogs! Technically on leash but off leash is usually not an issue. Starting around 5pm is yappy hour and it's crazy at that time, so don't go then if you aren't a dog person.
Great park to take your dog. Or sit by the fountain and relax watching all the dogs.
Beautiful park, especially in the summer! Really nice place to have a picnic or walk your dog. Also close to the Newberry Library.
Dog friendly, tranquil, beautiful park oasis in the heart of the Gold Coast. A nice place to sit on a bench or on the grass to read, meditate or enjoy the amazing Chicago skyline. A walk around the park is wonderful exercise too!
A great place for some on leash doggy meet ups. You can almost always meet another dog at this park, no matter the time or day of the week. I have an older dog but he still loves to meet other dogs and meeting on leash is better for him. Nice park benches to sit and take a break and big trash cans to pick up after your dog. Perfect for every season.
This park is in my neighborhood. Newberry Library on one side, Moody Bible campus on the other. One Chicaho is a neighbor. So many people and pets here all the time along with a host of activities. Bring a chair or a mat!
A city oasis..dog and family friendly. A water feature.. tranquil.
